Painting Description
for the misunderstanding, but Vecellio, called Titian, is not a work of art but the name of artist Tiziano Vecellio, known in English as Titian. Titian was an Italian painter during the Renaissance, considered as the most important member of the 16th-century Venetian school. He was born in Pieve Cadore, near Belluno (in Veneto, Republic of Venice), and his career spanned approximately 70 years where he produced a diverse array of artwork had a far-reaching influence.
Using techniques varying from loose brush strokes to a more formal style, he grew to be admired for a broad range of work including portraits, religious pieces, and mythological scenes. His ability to manipulate colors and create depth are among the characteristics that have established him as a significant figure in Western art history. Some of his most renowned works include "Assumption of the Virgin" (1516-1518) in the Basilica di Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari, "Bacchus and Ariadne" (1520–1523) at the National Gallery in London, and "Diana and Actaeon" (1556-1559) now shared by the National Gallery in London and the National Galleries of Scotland.
