Robert Auer Paintings

He was born on September 28, 1873, in Zagreb, which at that time was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire and is now the capital of Croatia. Auer pursued his education in fine arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich, Germany, which was a popular destination for many artists from the Austro-Hungarian Empire seeking a comprehensive artistic education.

After completing his studies in Munich, Auer continued to perfect his craft in Paris, France, which was then the epicenter of the art world. His work was deeply influenced by the symbolist movement, characterized by its emphasis on emotions, ideas, and the representation of truths through metaphorical imagery.
