Ernest Board Paintings

Ernest Board was a British artist known for his historical and genre paintings. Born in Bath, Somerset, England in 1877, he displayed an early talent for art which led him to study at the Bath School of Art and Design. He further honed his skills at the Royal Academy Schools in London, where he won several scholarships and awards for his work.

Board’s paintings often depicted scenes from British history, with a particular focus on the Tudor period. His attention to historical accuracy in costume and setting was notable and contributed to the educational value of his work. He was also known for his portraits, which captured the likeness and character of his subjects with a high degree of sensitivity.

Throughout his career, Ernest Board exhibited at various prestigious institutions, including the Royal Academy of Arts and the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours. His work was well received, and he gained a respectable following. In addition to his painting, Board also taught art, sharing his knowledge and passion with a new generation of artists.

Unfortunately, Board’s career was cut short when he died in 1934.
