Benjamin Herring Jr. was an English painter known for his works that primarily focused on equestrian subjects, including horse racing and hunting scenes. Born in 1830, he was the son of Benjamin Herring Sr., who was also a renowned painter of horses and sporting subjects. Following in his father's footsteps, Herring Jr. developed a strong reputation for his detailed and lifelike portrayals of horses.
His works often captured the dynamic movement and elegance of these animals, making them popular among British aristocrats and horse enthusiasts of the time. Herring Jr. exhibited his paintings at prestigious institutions such as the Royal Academy and the British Institution. Despite his success, little is known about his personal life, and he died relatively young in 1871. His paintings, however, continue to be celebrated for their contribution to British equestrian art and are collected by enthusiasts around the world.
