Caba Casamitjana's artistic journey began at the Provincial School of Fine Arts in Barcelona, where he was a student of Claudio Lorenzale, a significant figure in the Spanish art scene known for his purist style and a focus on medieval themes. In 1860, after completing his studies in Barcelona, Caba Casamitjana received a grant that allowed him to travel to Rome.
