Alfred de Breanski Paintings


Alfred de Breanski Sr. was a notable British landscape painter known for his picturesque paintings of the Welsh and Scottish Highlands. He was born in London, England, in 1852, into a family with an artistic background; his father Leopold Breanski was also a painter.

Breanski Sr. received his initial art education under the guidance of his father and later developed his distinctive style. He became well-known for his ability to capture the delicate interplay of light and color in his landscapes, which often featured serene scenes of mountains, lakes, and valleys.

Throughout his career, Breanski exhibited at various prestigious institutions, including the Royal Academy, the Royal Society of British Artists, and the Royal Institute of Oil Painters. His works were widely appreciated for their attention to detail and his skill in rendering the atmospheric effects of the British countryside.

Alfred de Breanski Sr. married Annie Roberts, and the couple had seven children, two of whom, Alfred Fontville de Breanski Jr. and Arthur de Breanski, also became painters, continuing the family tradition.

Breanski Sr. continued to paint throughout his life, and his works became sought after by collectors, particularly those who appreciated traditional landscape paintings. He passed away in 1928, leaving behind a rich legacy of landscape art that continues to be admired and collected today.
