Alexander Alexandrovich Kiselev was a Russian landscape painter who was born in the town of Simbirsk (now Ulyanovsk) on March 1, 1838. His artistic journey began at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, where he studied under the tutelage of various prominent artists of the time. He subsequently continued his education at the Imperial Academy of Arts in Saint Petersburg, where he honed his skills and developed a particular interest in landscape painting.

Kiselev's work is characterized by its serene and meticulous depiction of nature. He was particularly adept at capturing the changing moods and light of the Russian countryside.
