Part of a series of prints known as the "Large Colour Prints," the work depicts the biblical story of Nebuchadnezzar II, the King of Babylon, as recounted in the Book of Daniel. According to the biblical narrative, Nebuchadnezzar was punished by God for his pride and arrogance, being driven from men to live with the beasts and to eat grass as oxen, his body wet with the dew of heaven, until he recognized that the Most High God ruled over the kingdom of men.
