Ikegami's most notable work is "Sanctuary," a political thriller manga series created in collaboration with writer Sho Fumimura (also known as Buronson). "Sanctuary" was serialized in Big Comic Superior from 1990 to 1995 and has been acclaimed for its intricate plot, well-developed characters, and realistic portrayal of political and criminal underworlds in Japan. The series follows the intertwined lives of two ambitious young men, Akira Hojo and Chiaki Asami, as they navigate the treacherous waters of politics and organized crime with the ultimate goal of reforming Japan.

He illustrated "Crying Freeman," another collaboration with Fumimura, which tells the story of a skilled assassin who sheds tears for his victims.
